The breakfast buffet was decent, though nothing special. I’m alive, and I learned the owner has Parkinson’s disease, which sometimes makes speaking difficult. He’s also very attentive to guests, and his wandering the halls was because he wanted to make sure everything was alright. They’re selling the guesthouse, so this review may not apply in a few weeks or months. The place has a slightly old-fashioned charm that may or may not be for you, but it is comfortable. The real concern was the man in the hallways. At first I thought he might be the owner’s husband, perhaps dealing with senility and not quite all there. I was worried about getting through the night and finding my partner and stepdaughter in the morning. I was in a single room that had originally been meant for my stepdaughter. Earlier that night, the man knocked on her door six times before she opened it, then babbled incoherently. I gave it one star at that point, hoping it wouldn’t happen again. If the rest of the night went well and breakfast was good, I thought I might raise it to two or even three stars.
