Motel L'Escale

I passed by and it looked empty. Judging from the comments about cheap, really bad fast food, what do people expect from a greasy spoon, hole-in-the-wall restaurant? Around here it seems like the only options are little mom-and-pop places every 40 miles. This one seems alright, though these places can be hit or miss. I’m at the place across the street.

The motel is nice, but the restaurant food could use an upgrade. I sat down at 9:15, ordered supper, and read my book while I waited. It came at 9:30. While I was still eating and reading, the hostess said they closed at 10 and told me to finish up. I was disappointed by her behavior and never got to finish my meal. At 9:40, I stopped, paid, and left it. The service was terrible and the manners were awful.

A very nice two-star motel with clean, spacious rooms. As with a lot of two-star places, the walls are thin and the shower water temperature can be an issue.

A good local restaurant with typical dishes like clubs, pizza, and chicken, plus a Sunday brunch. There are very few vegetarian choices. I can’t speak to the hotel. It may be hard to get served in a language other than French, but that’s to be expected in this area.
