Chetwynd Court Motel

The guy running the place is a good guy, and I liked staying there despite the rough edges. It’s cheap and the internet is fairly quick, but the experience feels a bit like camping indoors. The water pressure stays steady, though the shower swings between scalding and freezing. You have to flush the toilet manually, and the bed was too short for an average-sized man. There are no refunds on monthly rates, so be careful about that, or don't book a whole month.

The people were decent, but my room was awful. The rooms in the far wing aren't so bad, while the wing connected to the office is terrible. Since the town WAS busy, they raised my rate by a couple hundred dollars a week. That came to over 700 after taxes. Don't pay that.

We really enjoyed our stay. It was an older room, but the beds were excellent, and there was a power strip for chargers. The TV had plenty of channels, and we also had a small fridge, microwave, dishes, cups and silverware. The motel seemed to have a lot of work crews staying there.

The room was surprisingly quiet and clean, and I was charged what we'd agreed on. It had a full-size fridge, an apartment-sized stove, a sink and cupboards, plus a bright bathroom. The shower couldn't be used because there was no diverter to send water to the showerhead. Both checking in and checking out took phone calls to the number on the office door. I waited about five minutes for someone to arrive at check-in, and at checkout no one answered the first call, so I went to breakfast and tried a third time. Nothing major went wrong, but I'll try other places to compare.
