The Shoreline Tofino

We watched movies and cooked, and everything we needed was there. The A-frame house at the Shoreline was a magical, peaceful place for our family to connect, and we spent three blissful days there. The hot tub, outdoor shower, sauna, and wood-burning fireplace were all lovely. Sean was helpful and accommodating whenever we had questions about things to do in Tofino. We also appreciated the quality local coffee and shampoos, since a few other local places we’d stayed recently hadn’t provided anything like that. We’ll definitely come back.

The beds were amazing, and we found Unit 3 comfortable and cozy. Shelter Restaurant was an easy walk away, and the food there was great. The location was quiet and easy to find, with just one other family seeming to be in the units. It felt a bit like upscale tenting, with the peaked roof and nice spa products. There’s no microwave, so we had to go without the popcorn we were craving, lol. We’re seniors, and some extra lighting by the unit sign and lockbox would help. Checking in after dark was a bit of a challenge.

We had a nice, relaxing three-night stay in Cabin Suite 2, and the beautiful setting was the main draw. Our suite was compact but had what we needed, though more storage would have helped. The terrace was a favorite, with two chairs where we could enjoy a cuppa and the view. I’m not sure “boutique hotel,” the label on the website, quite fits. It’s small, and the location is absolutely distinctive, but the style and attention to detail only partly match what I’d expect. There was no personalized service or culinary experience. It feels more like a cozy, nature-inspired getaway. Better upkeep would help too, since the glass balustrade was quite dirty.

It’s a quiet place where you can relax, and Tofino is walkable. The room worked well, though a little more cutlery would’ve saved us from washing up so often. There were a couple of small annoyances, like the bedside light switch being tucked under the table where it was almost impossible to reach. The harbour views were the best part, and we even spotted Sea Otters from the balcony.
