Western Budget Plus Cold Lake

The rooms are clean, and the location is nice and easy to get to. The staff are friendly, especially May. Great job.

BED BUGS!!!! The hotel is infested with bed bugs. Do not stay here.

A good budget place to stay in cold lak. The staff were very welcoming, and Kenji accommodated our request. The rooms were cleaned, and staff are always available.

If you want a long, unpleasant check-in, to be locked out of the hotel, and to have your dog treated badly, this is the place. I understand locking the doors, but paying guests should be able to get back in. There’s no night front desk like at most hotels, and there was no entry code, only manager keys and a letter with a number to call. My man works oil and gas. I dropped him off at 5 a.m., came back, and found every entrance locked. I called over and over, then tried the doorbell. Everyone was asleep while I stood outside in the cold, even though I was paying to stay there. Eventually someone let me in, but not kindly. The guy was very tired, and so was I. For six years I’ve been on the road with him while he works, with my well-trained 10 poud dog. They charged $20 for him, when most places charge 10, asked for papers, wanted to see him, and had all sorts of weird requirements. Why call yourselves pet friendly if you act like a dog is Satan himself? Check-in was already long and horrible. They sneered and looked at him like they wanted him gone, but insisted on seeing him. Um, what? I had the cleaning lady knock on my door before checkout. You're supposed to leave guests alone until checkout, then knock because you don’t want to bother people who paid to stay there. My dog heard my comments, and she stood there, then freaked out, waving her hands and screaming, “No, no, a dog!” She crouched down to his level, and I worried she might hit him. If she’s scared, why crouch to his 0.5 foot level? He’s a white, fluffy, 10 pound Toy Amarican Eskimo, extremely friendly and well behaved. She was smacking towards my dog and acting more dramatically than anyone I’ve seen since my daughter was 12 and I took her phone away. I paid to stay there, got locked out, called repeatedly before anyone answered, and signed more papers than ever while holding my dog because they had to meet him and approve of him. They looked at him like he was a disease. I rec the room before and after. Nothing was done because these people were weird and unwelcoming. The beds are hard as rocks, and the tub has no plug. The fees were way higher than what they state online or by phone, and there are extra charges if there’s more than one person. I’ve stayed at other budget westerns and never had a problem until now.
