Breakfast was delicious, and the staff were lovely, always greeting us with smiles. The rooms were spotless, and despite the nearby trains, we couldn't hear any noise from them. There were Halloween decorations too. The pool was closed, but we still enjoyed the jacuzzi. This was one of the best hotels I've stayed in, and I'd happily come back.
The service was friendly, and the newly renovated rooms were clean, though small. The bed was comfortable, with marble-style tile floors, and the price was the best I found in central Toronto. It's at the base of Kensington Market. Check-in was a little confusing but manageable. Noise carries through the thin walls, and people talking in the hall sound loud. Staff keep propping open the fire doors, which would otherwise help cut down the noise.
The one real upside is the location. I was desperate to leave another bad housing situation, but this isn't a hotel and doesn't even measure up to a hostel. Despite seeing my ID, the older lady was too much of a jokester. The room was tiny, with a bathroom, and the halls were so narrow that they weren't accessible for plus-size people, elders, or disabled folks. For about a week alone, it costs $430. I'd save that money for somewhere decent.
We were meant to stay one night, on August 2, 2025, but left right after seeing the room because it smelled like smoke. The person working there told us we could get our money back. Our bank account showed we'd paid for two rooms, but when we arrived, our names weren't on the list. There were about five other girls who came in to book a room. After we showed them ours, they agreed it smelled like smoke and left too. Now the hotel says we stayed overnight and is providing false documents as “proof,” even though we went straight home. The bank wants us to prove we didn't stay, which we can't do. I'm sure they're angry that we showed other people how gross the room was and they lost a lot of customers that day. Hope they get their karma.
The room and facilities were clean enough, even though the building and interior seemed very old. My room had no sink or microwave. It's conveniently close to Union Station, but hard to find because the building sign says "588" instead of 586. For the reasonable price, it's acceptable to me, though honestly I don't think it's a three-star hotel.
