Pleasant Manor Motel

Just needed a room for a night over a long weekend in Wasaga, and they were kind, pleasant, and very accommodating when I called. The service is excellent, and this little motel feels like a hidden gem. If you need somewhere to stay and good people, I’d recommend it. If you’re after luxury, I’d look for a hotel instead.

We came from the UK for a family holiday and had a fantastic time. The owners were helpful and gave us advice on places to visit. The environment was clean and welcoming. Highly recommend.

The room was utterly unsanitary and smelled awful. I called to ask for a refund, and the person just said, “no no no, the room is very nice,” then hung up on me. This is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. I’m angry I can’t give it zero stars, because that’s what it deserves. Don’t go there.

My daughter was in the bed closest to the bathroom and woke up the day after our night in room 8 with 147 bed bug bites on her arms, legs, torso, lower back, neck, and face. Yes, she counted them. My wife, in the other bed, had six bites. We stayed there one night, on Feb 15. We drove straight from home to the motel, skied the next day, then drove straight back. We didn’t go anywhere else and don’t have bed bugs at home, so our stay in room 8 is the only possible cause. I spoke with Nick, the manager. He said they could test the mattress, but if the test was negative, they’d charge me $300. I declined. We basically agreed that he didn’t trust me to be telling the truth, and I didn’t trust him to test properly or provide the right mattress if I hired my own tester. A positive result wouldn’t be in Nick’s best interest. I suggested the very basic step of thoroughly inspecting the room. He agreed and said they’d clean the carpets and mattress too. Hopefully he follows through and that takes care of it.
