Newfound Inn & Suites

The price was the last letdown: over $385 CN for one night, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here even at half that. The front desk person was friendly, but that didn’t make up for the room. We were put in the “ocean view” suite, which Expedia and the hotel shouldn’t describe that way. There was no window in the room itself, so it felt like a bunker. The only window was in the bathroom, where you had to stand right up against it to catch the slightest glimpse of water. The bed was too soft and lumpy, the sheets were among the cheapest I’ve ever seen, and the pillow was so lumpy I couldn’t use it. They called it a suite, but there was no TV service. The listing also didn’t say it was on the second floor with no elevator.

It was easy to find things to do nearby. There’s a pub with pool and darts at the hotel, Timmys across the road, pipers next door, and Riverdale bowling just two minutes down the road, with bowling, simulation golf, an arcade, food, and a bar. The staff were really friendly and helpful, happy to chat and hear about our day’s adventures. The beds were comfy and the atmosphere was great. Amazing hotel.

Our host Aaron made sure we had what we needed, and the service was outstanding. I felt more comfortable here than I have anywhere, almost like family. The rooms were clean and the beds really comfortable. We came across this little place while touring the island on holiday, and I’m so glad we stayed. Thanks, Aaron, for the amazing customer service. We’re looking forward to coming back in the near future.

I stayed here for work and found the room very clean, though there was one long black hair stuck to the shower wall. It was still cleaner than most motels I’ve stayed in. The place isn’t fancy, but it was fairly comfortable. Staff at the front desk and bar were friendly and helpful, and I had no service issues. The location works for a one-night stop while passing through, with a decent choice of fast food nearby. There isn’t much around for activities or finer dining. Traffic from the busy road was a bit loud, though I slept through it. The street lights outside my room were bright, so anyone sensitive to light might want to bring a blindfold. I did have a safety concern about the doors: the one opening outside had a locking handle and deadbolt, but the inside door only had a handle lock and chain, which often don’t seem reliable. Someone pushed the inside door open while I was reading on the bed with headphones on, despite the chain being across. I believe it was a drunk coworker trying to get me to join him at the bar, but it worried me enough that I tried to block the door with a chair. I’d suggest adding deadbolts to the inside doors too.
