The White Horse Motel

I found bedbugs in room #5, and got no apology or refund. The owner showed no concern, offered no help, took no responsibility, and was just rude and dismissive. It was easily the worst motel stay I’ve ever had. Avoid the White Horse Motel at all costs.

Our room was very clean, and reception was absolutely lovely. We stayed in 5 and, even though we were a bit nervous after reading other reviews, the visit went fine. It’s a very basic, somewhat dated budget motel and farther from Cornwall than we’d expected. There’s a service station, several shops, and a bar at the Milky Way, plus a bus stop about a 30-minute walk away that goes to Charlottetown. We saw flies and similar bugs, which we expected in summer beside a lake, but no yucky bugs. It did the job, and I wouldn’t mind coming back.

For a short stay, the motel was decent for the price, and the small kitchen had the basics, including a stove, utensils, and dishwasher liquid. The beds were average and the linens were stained. It could use some improvements, but we got what we paid for. Three stars.

The location was great for Charlottetown and pretty central for the rest of PEI, and it was amazing being right by cow's creamery. My family got addicted to it. The room was clean and spacious, with a nicely sized mini fridge and microwave. The window AC was hard to keep at the right temperature, and the shower head wasn’t flowing properly and could use replacing. Still, it was great value.
