Motel 6 Cranbrook, BC

We left right away and spent almost two hours in the car talking with Booking.com to explain what had happened. They eventually helped us get into another hotel, Prestige BW, around 2:30 a.m., thanks to their kind staff. This was extremely stressful and unpleasant. Being sworn at in front of my children and getting no basic service was unacceptable. I don't recommend this place at all. I had booked and paid in full through Booking.com because my son's friend was staying here. When we arrived late at night and tried to cook noodles for the kids on the induction stove, it wouldn't work. I called the office, and the owner kept telling me to turn on the wall switch, even though I'd already tried. He repeated the same thing, then hung up while swearing in his own language. The phone was on speaker, so my wife and children heard it too. We understood the words clearly because we're from the same country. I called back and asked why he'd sworn at us, but he denied it. About ten minutes later he came to the room with a wall timer switch and told us to replace it ourselves. I'd never seen a motel owner ask guests to fix equipment. He also said we should leave if we didn't like it.

For the price, it's okay, but not great or even particularly good. The property is showing its age. The shower had very low pressure and the hot water barely got warm enough. The room was like a meat locker when I arrived. Luckily, I'd checked in early and had errands to run, which gave it time to warm up.

This is an easy-to-reach, pet-friendly place to stop, and the room worked perfectly. I arrived before check-in time, and they said they could get me settled shortly. The washroom was small but totally usable and well stocked. I'd definitely recommend the motel. The one snag was that my two cats couldn't reach the window, so they missed their window time.

I've stayed here twice, in Summer 2024 and Summer 2025, and both visits went well. The rooms are clean, comfortable, refreshed, and adequate despite the older building. The showers and bathrooms were good overall. Parking and the location worked well for me, and having stairs straight down to the parking lot was handy. Being on the main drag makes it easy to get around town.
