St. Eugene Golf Resort & Casino

The room was a good size, clean, and comfortable, but the service made the stay disappointing. At check-in, the front desk agent seemed grumpy and in a hurry to get us through. At the casino entrance, security was very rude when asking for physical IDs. We’re both 40 and had shown ID at check-in, but didn’t have our physical cards with us right then. The guard wouldn’t accept digital copies on our phones and handled it badly. The TV in our room didn’t work. Someone came up from the front desk and tried to fix it, but couldn’t. He said maintenance would be there shortly, so we waited more than an hour. When we called again, we were told maintenance doesn’t work at night. We’d been given wrong information, and the problem hadn’t been properly reported. They offered another room, but we’d already unpacked and settled in.

The spacious, clean, comfortable room and friendly staff made for a wonderful stay. It’s a peaceful, scenic spot with views of the Rockies, and having the casino right there was a fun way to spend the evening. We ate at its restaurant and were pleasantly surprised by how delicious the food was. I’d especially recommend the hot wings, fettuccine, and tiramisu. We’d absolutely stay again.

I usually keep quiet when I can’t say something good, but the service here was horrible. I mentioned the gross microwave twice to the front desk, then brought it up again at checkout, and got no real response. The room looked and smelled like a one-star motel. The sheets seemed clean, the bathroom was so-so, and the shower wouldn’t drain. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

The site and location are lovely, and the service was very good throughout. We used the outdoor pool and hot tubs, which were nice, though the tubs weren’t as hot as they should’ve been. Our Lodge-side room was fine but dated, and I understand renovations may be coming soon. I hope they move the vending machines from the main hallway, where they’re right in front of two rooms and make quite a bit of noise. We were disappointed that the main hotel restaurant wasn’t open for supper during our two-day stay. On the first night we ate a bit late at the casino restaurant. It was all right, standard pub fare.
