The Groundswell

We loved having breakfast brought to us in the morning, with coffee and tea to get the day going. Before that, we spent the afternoon eating and drinking by the water, on the deck, and in the comfortable pub after settling into our upstairs room. The food was amazing and there were plenty of drinks to choose from. We had a fabulous overnight stay and are already looking forward to planning another getaway to the Groundswell.

Matt and Colleen made us feel so welcome during our one-night stay at the Groundswell. The room was spacious, spotless, and exceptionally well appointed, with plenty of games and books if we’d needed to pass the time. We had a great meal and drinks in the bar, and enjoyed an evening of live local music. You can tell when a business is doing its absolute best to make your time there memorable. If you need a place to stay in the area, the Groundswell is the place for you.

We stayed in "The Paperback Writer," a clean, cozy room with lovely rustic and modern touches. The patio has nice views while you dine, and the location is great. The pub was open only to guests on the evening we were there, though it was easy to imagine the welcoming atmosphere and live music on regular open nights, Wednesday to Sunday. Matt, the owner, was really friendly and went above and beyond to make the experience a good one. We spent one night and will definitely be back!

The live music and vibe made it worth going. Just be ready to wait: it took an hour and 20 minutes for the appetizers to arrive, and the food was extraordinarily slow. Go, but don't be in a rush or show up hangry.
