The hosts are friendly and easygoing, and we already have next year in mind after coming back for our third year in a row. We wanted a bit more comfort than camping without spending too much, and these little log cabins were just right. A short drive from the highway takes you into the wilderness, with the lake right nearby. You can fish just steps from the cabin, then watch the stars by the evening fire. We love it here, and it’s a great way to take in how beautiful British Columbia is.

Jenna and the people running Rustic Resort made us feel so welcome. We came as a family of four with our two dogs and loved every minute. It was our first visit, the place exceeded what we expected, and we’ll be back.

Fishing was one of the best parts of our trip, and they provided boats for us. The cabins are tastefully done and cozy, with wonderfully clean cabins and toilets. After our long, tiring journey, arriving late could have been rough, but the hosts welcomed us warmly and had already preheated the cabin, which was a huge relief. The setting feels very private, with no other properties nearby, and the off-grid hot shower was a treat. We had a memorable stay at Rustic Resort in Darfield and can’t wait to return. A quiet, well-equipped off-grid getaway.

A day fishing for powerful rainbows on a beautiful wilderness lake you hike into is my happy place. Rustic Resort has the cosy remote-lake cabin, a private dock, and a tinner with an electric motor. It’s peaceful, apart from the loons calling, and the Milky Way looks luminous at night. Jenna and Lamont are dedicated, hardworking, attentive hosts.

We got to five lakes over the weekend and had great fishing at each one. The fish were smaller, but the wild rainbows put up a good fight. The cabins include boat access, with many of the boats at hike-in lakes; the resort supplies full or half batteries for motors, and a half battery makes sense if you have a long hike. Our family had a wonderful weekend. The cabin was simple and clean, the wood stove was welcome on the cold, rainy days, and the service was excellent.
