DoubleTree by Hilton Halifax Dartmouth

The breakfast was a highlight, especially the amazing waffle, and the pool was a decent size. I also loved the purple decor throughout the hotel. My room was beautiful with a balcony, a comfortable bed, and a great cable selection on the TV. It was convenient and very reasonably priced, and check-in felt welcoming. They greeted us warmly and handed out warm chocolate chip and walnut cookies 🍪😋. The staff were courteous and friendly the whole time. I absolutely loved my stay; it went beyond what I expected 🙂💜

The restaurant seemed short-staffed. The people working were doing their best, but it was quite a crowd for the number of staff on duty. Otherwise, the hotel was very clean and everyone was friendly. I’d read reviews mentioning the homeless shelter, but didn’t run into any problem with that. I’m glad they can house people who need it. I’ll definitely stay again.

The breakfast was excellent and worth the $15 when it isn’t included in the room rate. The wait staff member, whose name I missed, had an English accent, though I’m sorry if it was Welsh, Scottish, or Irish. Joey, the breakfast Chef, was great too. I’d give this place 4.5 if that were an option. There was a small mix-up with our rooms at check-in, but Guest Services were polite and accommodating. The room was well equipped and mostly clean, with a little surface dust, windows that weren’t spotless or streak-free, and what looked like a coffee stain on the bathroom door. The carpet, beds, and towels felt plush and new. I was disappointed the coffee cups were paper instead of porcelain. I found the stay much nicer than at Casino NB, which is inexplicably rated 4 star, and the breakfast was better than at Liscomb Lodge. Thank you.

The people were fantastic. Housekeeping was absolutely A1, with big smiles and a friendly, personable manner. I didn’t interact much with the front desk crew, but whenever I did, they greeted me warmly. The hotel itself is starting to feel a bit run down. The room furniture has seen better days, with dings and scratches all around.
