The view from that balcony in the smoky sunrise on our first day is what really stayed with me. We’d wake early, walk down for Canadian waffles, then sit by what I still can’t decide was a beach, coastline or river. Paul was cleaning when we arrived and gave us such a warm welcome. And Pina seemed to like me so much she brought me a mouse. The tour books said not to go near her, but I think that was a lie. I don’t know if she did that for many people. I was there around a year and a half ago, and only after getting back home did I realize how much of a life I’d left behind. I still think about Vancouver every day, especially that house, and wonder what might become of it. I’ll see it again, that’s for sure. It inspired me to decide what to do with my life: become a pilot for a Canadian airline and live in North East Vancouver. Maybe, probably not, but maybe one day I’ll live in that house. It’s inspiring from the moment you wake up till you go to sleep, and it’s only once you’re back home that you realize what happened. I’m from the U.K. I even started an Instagram account about Vancouver, though I’m slowly giving up on it after getting more than double the followers I have now. I hope things go well for the rest of your time there. It was lovely, and anyone who’s been there knows it’s something you’d be missing out on.
