Microtel Inn & Suites Montreal Airport - Dorval QC

We used the REM to get downtown, then took the Metro around. The weekend pass was an excellent choice: we avoided heavy traffic and narrow streets and saved money on expensive garage parking. Both the REM and Metro ran on time, so we could plan our stay down to the smallest details. It's a newer hotel with everything you need, excellent service, and a great complimentary breakfast. This F1 weekend was perfect. Thank you for such great service.

Sharon was especially exemplary among the staff, friendly, capable, and helpful. The front desk was efficient, but some staff there lacked friendliness or interest. I asked for connecting rooms when booking, three days before arrival, and only found out on arrival that none were available. Some staff were borderline rude, ignorant, and indifferent. The free breakfast was very basic, with little for vegan vegetarians. Free parking and a luggage rack were useful. The updated rooms were bright, odor-free, and quite clean. I'm a clean freak, so cleanliness matters a lot to me. The beds and pillows were comfortable. I spent two nights at Microtel Dorval. The location was convenient, but the views weren't attractive, with parking lots, a highway, and commercial buildings around. The room and bathroom were small. Highway noise at night was loud, and hallway footsteps were annoying. Shower pressure was abysmal, and it took forever to wash.

The staff handled our tour group politely and were accommodating. The hotel is clean, contemporary, non-smoking, and geared toward business travelers, with free guest parking and a pet-friendly policy. It sits off Autoroute 40, about 7.5 miles from Montréal-Trudeau International Airport, in a light industrial area. Amenities include hot breakfast, an indoor pool with a water slide, a hot tub, gym, guest laundry, a business center off the lobby, meeting room, lounge, and a breakfast room that also serves as a bar. But our guest room felt a little cramped, with tight space to move between the furniture and our bags. There weren't any restaurants within walking distance, either. One breakfast hostess was unfriendly and very terse when we asked her a question.

The young man at reception in the morning, working alongside a young woman, speed-walked through the breakfast buffet to get himself a plate. I had to move out of his way, which didn't seem very professional. The evening desk man was incredibly friendly. He clearly followed his usual check-in script, but still came across as genuine. My room was clean and had plenty of towels. It was a little hot when I arrived, 26 Celsius, but the powerful AC cooled it down fast. I liked having a white noise machine since the hotel is by the highway. I didn't notice highway sounds while I slept.
