Royal Harrison Retreat

Loved the place. There was lots of room for the family to visit one day, and we had a lovely view of the lake to the west. A couple of kayaks were available, and there’s a waterfall across the street.

The location is great, the house is cozy, and the views are lovely. We stayed three nights over the summer, but several things made it uncomfortable. The pool wasn’t heated and was ice cold, and both the pool and hot tub were disgustingly dirty. There was also a huge wasp problem, with a massive nest under the back deck and wasps everywhere. If you have bee or wasp allergies, good luck. We had trouble with breakers switching off and couldn’t get a timely response from the host. When we did hear back, the response wasn’t helpful and felt dismissive. It’s a nice spot, but it needs more care and a lot of TLC. With some effort, it could be a much better getaway.

We spent Thanksgiving weekend here and had a great time. The lake views are amazing, and the place has what you need for a relaxing, fun weekend with friends and family. The kitchen was well stocked, the bedrooms were huge, and there were several places to hang out, including the roof and a fire pit by the water. The best part was taking cold dips in the pool or lake and then warming up in the sauna. It’s a fun place to wander around, enjoy nature, and reassess your priorities. I can’t wait to come back in summer.

We spent a week here on our latest visit, and the views from every room are stunning. The kids loved having a private beach and paddle boards, and we rented boats to entertain our guests. The caretaker takes real pride in looking after the boats, house, and yard, and showed us some gorgeous spots around the lake. Rainbow 🌈 falls was spectacular, so we went back twice. Downtown harrison is only five minutes away. We’ve now stayed twice, and the first time we flew in by helicopter.
