Metro Inn Calgary Northwest

The desk clerk had his feet up on the counter when we arrived and didn't put them down after noticing us. Inside, the floors especially were unclean, the mattress and sheets were stained, and the walls were cracked. Mold sat around the bathroom sink. The bathroom fan was loud and tied to the light, so at night we used our phones for light to avoid waking each other. There was odd blue tape on the window, too. We picked the place on the edge of the city while coming from Banff, but the next night we stayed near the airport for the same price and had a 1000% better experience than at the Metro Inn. I wouldn't stay here again.

I’ve stayed here about seven times off and on from late August 2025 through September 2025, and yes, I’d come back. It’s very close to Foothills Hospital, U of C, and the C-train. The price is excellent, parking is free, and the pool was clean with freshly changed water. The sheets were super clean, and I had no issues with towels either. I’d pick the main building by the desk and pool, maybe Rooms 238, 237, or 235, all Kings. Every second-floor room has a balcony for fresh air. No smoking, please. People smoking in rooms leave a horrible lingering smell. Be realistic about what you’re booking: this used to be a Ramada and is now called Metro Inn, and it isn’t a 4-star hotel. Housekeeping can only do so much with the ancient fixtures.

My first room had water leaking from the ceiling, so I was moved. Then I heard shouting and glass breaking in the room next door. Once things settled down and the police had left, a trail of blood remained outside my door until the next day. No staff checked on me at any point after the incident.

I booked through Expedia and was checked in and out within 30 minutes. If I’d known how it would be, I wouldn’t have wasted the time or money. I couldn’t even get a refund for a place that wasn’t worth staying in. Unless you’re really desperate, look somewhere else.
