Gord mentioned a late-winter stay where you can reach the lodge from Yellowknife by snowmobile. That sounds so exciting. The area around the lodge had been hit hard by fires, which was a bit of a shame. The location is everything, and Gord was a perfect host; the other staff were fun to chat with too. Food was basic and there was plenty of it. The rooms felt just like a lodge, basic but comfortable, at least in summer, and the place was what I expected.

They take great care of you, and the price is reasonable. You're properly cut off from the real world here, but still have all the comforts of home. Awesome spot for a getaway.

The views were breathtaking, and the staff were friendly and attentive, which made the stay really enjoyable despite the chilly winter weather and the limitations of being so remote. If you want to get away from the city and spend time in Canada's cold wilderness, this lodge is a great fit. You could have a peaceful break watching the northern lights or have fun on snowmobiles. Highly recommended.
