The cottages suited us well. They're well stocked, so making meals was easy, and we took a canoe out on the lake, which was great for paddling. The owners were friendly and helpful. The cabins are nice but simple, and most importantly, ours was clean and not musty. The location makes it easy to reach Algonquin PP, Arrowhead PP, Limberlost Nature Preserve, and Huntsville for food or a meal out. There is some traffic noise at night from nearby Highway 60, and the cottages are quite close to the neighbours. We were happy with our stay.

We wished we'd booked a whole week at Colonial Bay Cottages in Huntsville. Our cottage was right by the lake, with gorgeous views over morning coffee, and owners Bruce and Nicole were warm, always happy to chat and quick to answer questions. We'll definitely be back.

The kitchen was a real plus, with a fairly new stove and fridge and a full set of cooking utensils. We stayed for two nights at the end of September 2025 to catch the fall colours and reconnect with friends. The unit felt very much like an old Muskoka cottage, as if it dated from the 1940s and had barely changed, which does fit the local feel. Evenings were a problem for internet: there was basically no service when guests were likely streaming. The hosts ask people not to stream, though some seem to ignore that. I couldn't tell if the provider limits the service or if the hosts are being cheap and haven't bought enough bandwidth for the motel. Also, a big flock of geese now lives on the property, so walking around without getting goose poop on your shoes is tricky.

A simple motel with what you need, and a great view. The owners were really friendly and helpful, and made us feel welcome. There are canoes, SUPs, a playground, and more. Thanks for the warm welcome.

I've spent many summers here and plan to keep coming back. The place has seven cottages and a motel on Peninsula Lake near Huntsville in Muskoka. The owners are friendly and helpful, the cottages have all the amenities you need, and guests can borrow kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards to explore the lovely lake. It also has a nice sandy bottom.
