Pinestone Resort & Conference Centre

The staff were kind, the property is beautiful, and the restaurant service was good. Still, I’d only give this hotel two stars. The clean, comfortable rooms are dated, and the place needs updates and better security for what it charges. The exterior doors aren’t key-card secured, anyone can get in, and the one near our room didn’t close properly, which felt unsafe. The pool and fitness centre were unavailable. Apparently they’ve been closed a long time, but that wasn’t on the website. We only got an email a few days before our stay. The hotel is promoted and priced as a “modern resort,” yet it feels run down, with little sign of money going back into the property. I can’t help wondering if the late notice about the pool, which has apparently been out of service for over a year, is meant to avoid losing bookings. The website also promises “modern amenities,” but there was no smart TV, no bedside device plugs, and the coffee machine was in the bathroom. That didn’t feel modern at all. The misleading marketing and high cost are the main reasons I’d stay elsewhere next time.

I stopped by because they had some snowmobile racing going on, which was cool. I’ve never actually stayed at the Pinestone, though my wife worked there for a summer 25 years ago. The place is definitely dated, but the service was friendly and efficient. I’d like to explore more.

After a full day of snowmobiling, we arrived late Friday evening at The pinestone and Natalie greeted us warmly. She found a room for the three of us and was really accommodating and nice. Hotels can be much the same, but the staff are what make a place stand out. Thanks, Natalie. We’ll definitely come back 😊

The rooms were very clean and the service was good, even with the resort under renovation. The restaurant was the weak spot. It wasn’t very good, maybe because it was understaffed or something, and the winter menu is really small.
