Coliseum Inn

The staff were incredibly nice, and the clean towels and bed sheets were a plus, though they had what looked like makeup stains. The building needs better care, and the walls were filthy. The neighbourhood wasn't very desirable either. It was okay for the one night we stayed, but I won't come back.

The room was alright for what I paid, but I didn't feel safe leaving my car in the parkade. The staff were welcoming when we checked in. Later, after a booking error, I asked to add two guests and the front desk tried to charge us double, $20 per extra person instead of $10. They weren't clear about where the charges came from, but luckily another employee arrived and explained the actual prices. At checkout, those same staff wouldn't talk to us or make eye contact.

For $70 a night for three adults and three children, this was a nice place to stay, and better than many similar hotels with higher rates. I liked the breakfast and the staff in general. They provided an extra bed for my child for both nights, and there's a covered free parking area. We didn't want housekeeping during our two-night stay, but there was no sign to put on the door. Room service still came in the morning and knocked twice, even after we told her we didn't want the room cleaned. Otherwise, the stay was good.

The location was excellent, and the free cappuccino machine in the lobby was a huge bonus. I was surprised and happy to find a hot breakfast instead of the usual boring muffins. Every staff member we dealt with was the best I've ever encountered at a hotel, from reception to security to the cleaning lady, who made sure we had everything each day. Thanks for a great stay.
