Courtyard Edmonton West

I’ve stayed here many times, and the service has stayed consistently helpful and polite over the years. Management clearly cares about customer service, and the staff take pride in their work. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the restaurant has good meals and attentive service, and the location is convenient. The team here is friendlier than at some high-end resorts I’ve visited. I highly recommend staying here.

The pool and hot tub were really nice, and the pool wasn’t too cold, which was great. We had four people in the room, though, and it wasn’t set up with enough towels, so we had to ask for more. We also asked for a microwave at midnight, and they were still willing to help. The location is very good for West Edmonton Mall, but don’t expect Marriott-level comfort. The room felt dated and needs refreshing, and the price seemed a little high for that kind of room.

The staff are what make this one of my favorite hotels in Alberta. They go out of their way, and it’s neat to see them having a team meeting in the morning. The rooms are close to perfect, the hotel is ultra clean, and the lobby and public spaces look great. There’s also a good restaurant serving the hotel.

Emergency Accommodations booked a room here for me and my four kids while we were homeless. One of my kids is on the autism spectrum. After we lost our home, he started wetting himself, which was unusual because he was potty trained and had no trouble using the toilet at our old place. It began with bedwetting and then happened while he was awake too. I got mattress pads, but he moves around a lot in his sleep, so they didn’t always help. The hotel evicted us, saying he was damaging the linen. They knew we had nowhere to go, yet put our family out on the streets in Canada in the middle of February over sheets. I also have a six-month-old baby. It’s awful to be treated as if clean linen mattered more than keeping five people warm and safe. They told me Emergency Accommodations had found somewhere else for us, but that wasn’t true. The hotel complained about linen damage, and we nearly lost approval for a transfer, so they almost cost us our emergency accommodations altogether. The stay was already hard, and that made us feel even worse after losing our home, dignity, and pride. We’re moving into our new home this weekend, and I needed at most four more days. The TV kept glitching, the guide listings didn’t match what was on, Netflix stopped working for two days, and the Wi-Fi was slow. The pool and hot tub were small. There was no microwave in our room, so we had to heat meals in the lobby, and the bathtub was tiny, more like a big basin. I wouldn’t recommend this place for families, especially those with kids with special needs.
