Westgate Inn

The lady manager was cheerful and friendly when she rented us a room, but communication between staff seemed poor. Later in the afternoon, the male manager took over and added extra charges. For the next couple of hours, whenever we were outside, he lingered nearby watching our room and us. It's a motel, but his behavior made us uncomfortable.

The $50 damage deposit was a nice part, and paying it by cash, debit, or credit was convenient. We paid $100 for three people in room 206, a two-bed smoking room, but it was badly dated and very dirty. There seemed to be no cleaning at all. What looked like snot was wiped across the headboard, the nightstand and table by the window had sticky spots, crumbs, and stains, and there was a used needle under the sink with lipstick smears on the counter. The beds looked worn and had disturbing brown stains, and the carpet seemed not to have been cleaned in years. A cockroach crawled across the bathroom floor. I kept my boots on except in the shower and slept on top of the covers. At 10:30 the next morning, half an hour before checkout, the front desk woman was already knocking to ask if we were staying another night or leaving soon. There was no phone in the room, so you had to walk to the lobby for anything you needed before it closed at 11 pm.

There were cockroaches as soon as I walked in, and they wouldn't refund me. They also let other people stay there while I wasn't able to vacate my own room. I got sick after ⅓ hours in the room. If I could give a negative star, I would.

We were in and out in about four minutes. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, but when we checked the room as we always do, we found several cockroaches in the tub and cupboards. I noticed the no-refunds sign at checkout and thought getting our money back might be a problem, but the staff refunded the full amount and let us leave without trouble. The price was cheap, but I wouldn't bring a family here. Take your kids somewhere else.
