Bathgate Resort and Marina

The small terrace had a nice waterfront view, and the receptionist was friendly, but our one-night stay had some real drawbacks. There were lots of flies by the room’s front door. We had to open and close it quickly to keep them out, and when I asked the female receptionist about it, she said they also found it strange and couldn’t see anything attracting them. We ended up using a mosquito racket to catch the flies. There’s no elevator, just stairs, so heavy luggage is a hassle. There are plenty of jogging trails nearby, but food options are limited. The coffee shop shuts at 3pm and restaurants close from 4-6 pm. If you don’t have a particular plan like hiking, sailing, or kayaking, this may not be the right place to stay. At Cad217/ night, the small, economical room didn’t feel reasonably priced. It’s also 1.5 hours to Langdale ferry terminal, which isn’t convenient if you have an early ferry departure.

We’ve now stayed for 10 days twice in three months, and I can’t wait to come back again. The suite is spacious, has great views, and is so quiet and relaxing that I feel refreshed and ready to get back to work when I return home. Mark, the manager, is friendly, helpful, and fun to talk with. The cleaning staff were friendly and helpful too. One afternoon Mark called to let us know dolphins were swimming past, so we could step onto our deck and see them. That was AWESOME. Thanks to Mark and Bathgate for a wonderful working vacation.

Egmont is a beautiful town, and this quiet, quaint motel is a lovely place to stay, with incredible views. It’s clean, affordable, and the staff are helpful. I’d highly recommend it if you’re going on princess Louisa boat tours or sightseeing around the Skukumchuck provincial park.

Egmont is such a beautiful place to visit, and Mark + Dawn at bathgate are the best.
