Elkford Motor Inn

We were struggling to find a room in the area, and Elkford motor inn was full too. The manager was understanding and managed to find us a room for one night when my wife, kids, and I had nowhere else to go. It was cozy and clean, and having a bar, liquor store, and restaurant on site was handy. We had a pleasant stay, and I’d definitely recommend the place.

The strange smells were a bonus, if you can call them that. The rooms had mold and bugs, and checking in felt like a sure way to get congested or sick. One star is already more than this place deserves.

At $170 a night, the room still had dirty floors and a bathroom that hadn’t been properly cleaned. Then, while I was bathing in the room my father and I had paid for, three people tried to get in. I was 16, heard them trying the door, and was left shaking and feeling completely unsafe. It was terrifying, traumatic, and a serious breach of privacy. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone, and would give zero stars if I could. There’s recorded evidence of what happened. The motel staff and owners gave no explanation or apology. Families, solo women, and other travelers deserve safety and respect. I wouldn’t stay here or risk going through the same thing. EDIT: The owners’ response is false. I have recorded video of the attempted entry, and it clearly shows it wasn’t the police knocking. I was the one who called the Elkford RCMP first because I was afraid for my safety. They refused to file a report or arrest anyone, and left after defending the other individuals rather than us. Publicly denying a serious safety claim involving a minor to protect the motel’s image is dishonest and unacceptable. I have the evidence recorded. They can deny it all they want.

The place is showing its age, but the restaurant food is excellent and the owners are very friendly. I’ll stop by the pub, Sneakies, for a pint. Racheal, Jen and Sye provide top notch service there. I recommend staying here.
