Fernie Slopeside Lodge

The location right by the ski hill is great, but I’d have been better off downtown somewhere cleaner and more efficient. Our rooms smelled musty, there was mold in the shower and pink soap scum all over the curtain. There was black hair scattered across our beds when we arrived, plus plenty of other issues. Cleanliness really disappointed me, and service was only middling. When we asked for towels because there weren’t any in our room on arrival, the front desk wouldn’t give us any. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The staff are friendly, and Fernie Slopeside Lodge makes a cozy place to enjoy the surrounding scenery and outdoor activities. Getting to the slopes is easy, and the location is great. The rooms are comfortable, though some furniture and decor feel dated and could use upgrades. Updating them would make the stay feel more modern and inviting.

For $116 a night, the dated room was fine, though it could use updates. But we found a rotten sandwich in the fridge, mold in the bathtub, and then a mouse in the room. The beds are terrible, and people play pool until midnight. It’s close to the lifts, but honestly, you could stay in town and drive 10 minutes to the hill.

The pool table was nice, and the TV had plenty of options. The bed was loud and springy, but also like a rock. There were scuffs on the walls, a little mold by the tub, and the lock came out of the wall. The fire alarms kept going off or chirping, and the lights flickered. Some drinks in the mini fridge froze while others seemed kind of hot. The toilet was strong. The perfect hotel.
