Spruceholme Inn

The staff are very kind and welcoming. It's a very old hotel and kitchen, with rooms in the main building and guest houses available. The front of the main house is open to anyone visiting the area, and the venue can host weddings and receptions.

The service was terrible, though they were doing their best with a very bad situation. The chef quit the week before our wedding, so the food had to be catered from off site. Many of the paid extras were unavailable. I gave this one star only because zero wasn't an option. Do not have your wedding here.

The room felt very clean, and the bedroom was spacious. The woman who worked there was super nice and made us breakfast. There was air conditioning in the room and a non-hazardous fireplace. It's a really cool, peaceful house, even if it might look haunted at first glance. The energy felt calm. The bed was a bit too soft for me, and there's no mini fridge in the room. The bath was decorative, which I didn't mind because it looked cool. One small FYI for the building: the toilet leaked a little after flushing. It wasn't an issue for me, and we forgot to mention it before leaving. There's nice daylight for shoots, so I'd recommend it for film location scouting or photographers. Very interesting place.

Jane, the owner, was hands on during the day, making sure things ran smoothly and offering property tours. She knows a lot about local history, and my grandmother loved the private tour and hearing about the grounds. The historic area was lovely to explore, and Spruceholme is a phenomenal all-in-one wedding space, with comfortable, unique lodging and delicious food. Chef Peter was fantastic. He worked closely with us on a delicious menu that respected guests' allergies, and went out of his way to make sure we were happy throughout. My guests keep talking about the friendly staff, how convenient the lodging was, and how great all the food was. There were a few hiccups during planning, but the staff worked with me to resolve them quickly. In the end, our August wedding ceremony and reception went off without a hitch.
