The hotel itself was lovely, though the steam room was out of order. I’d stay again, but anyone who needs breakfast before an early shift should check whether another place starts serving sooner. Breakfast had good options, but it didn’t open until 6. I went down at 5:50 to grab food before work, and although everything was already set out, staff said I’d be “blacklisted” if I ate before opening. I had to leave by 6 at the latest. In an oil town, an earlier breakfast would help people who start work early. The way they spoke to me felt rude and disappointing. They didn’t give a reason, and the breakfast bags at the desk had only a juice box and a piece of fruit, nothing like the hot food upstairs.

The place is clean and well kept, with nice rooms, a small gym, and a hot tub. There’s no microwave in the rooms, though. Parking is generous underground for smaller cars, but there isn’t much room for larger rigs. It’s in the heart of Fort McMurray. The free breakfast is, well, free. Not too bad, if you catch my drift. It seems to be popular with travelling sports teams.

The room and the whole hotel felt like new. Mine was spacious, with two queen beds, a desk, and a couch. The decor was current and tasteful, the beds were comfortable, and it was quiet. The bathroom was lovely, with a deep tub. Staff were pleasant and helpful, and I never had to wait for an elevator. No complaints.

A nice place to stay, and the underground parking is a real plus. Breakfast was included and adequate, and the room was clean and comfortable. It’s near the Suncor Liesure Centre, an easy walk when the weather is nice, with convenient highway access and other downtown services nearby. The mattress could be more comfortable. I couldn’t figure out how to use streaming services on the TV, but I travel with a firestick, so I was prepared. If the hotel partnered with a rewards program for business travel, it would become my regular choice for frequent trips to the Mac.

Service was excellent and breakfast was good, but I spent the whole stay fighting the room temperature. The mini splits need fixing. The heater defaults to 17 degrees, and turning it up sends it to 27, then the AC kicks in and cools it back to 17. In -43 weather, that’s not fun.
