Quality Inn & Suites Amsterdam

We needed a place for the period around my total joint replacement, and the staff made planning it easy. When I called, a friendly, accommodating staff member talked through my pre- and post-surgery needs and offered different options. The room matched its description, had enough space for my adaptive equipment, and was fragrance-free. They also provided the five extra pillows I requested for propping and comfort. We asked for a ground-floor room, and its exterior door made getting in and out with limited mobility much easier. The staff even added extra shoveling and salt to help keep me safe. Breakfast was on time, hot, and plentiful, with good bacon, eggs and taters, plus yogurt, juice and fruit. My husband said there was lots to choose from, though I wasn't actually in the room for all of it. The shower got hot quickly, the towels were soft and fluffy, and the beds were comfortable. Most of all, the kindness felt natural. They made everything stress-free after surgery, without making us feel like a burden. We'll definitely stay again and recommend it.

The sink drained exceptionally slowly, and the carpet grippers between the carpet and bathroom were exposed, with their nails sticking up. That was disappointing. The front desk service, though, was very good and better than I expected.

Having our own entrance and being able to park right outside the door was a real plus. We found it comfortable here, and much preferred it to the so-called four-star hotel we stayed in the night before. There was very good coffee in the lobby when we checked in, and we could sit and chat with friends in the small lounge. The breakfast room had everything we needed, the attendant was lovely, and having a hot breakfast included was definitely a bonus.

I've stayed at the Amsterdam several times, so I usually expect a superior experience. This visit was good, but didn't quite reach that level. The room was nice and very clean, and breakfast was perfectly fine. Reception was pleasant, though not especially warm or friendly. The fitness centre was closed, and the only notice I saw anywhere in the building was on the room's door. There was no mention on the website either. It's still a solid choice, just very good rather than great this time.
