We stayed there for two months, and it was the worst place I’ve ever been. It was dirty, with bugs and mice, and the renovations were hack jobs. The owner kept our security deposit after telling my partner and me he’d return it. Then he said he’d added it to our rent. He offered me a rate of 350 a week, which lasted one week. It went back up to 400 because we had to use heat. We paid 2400 the first month and 2600 the last month. The price changed every other week. If we’d had better options at the time, we would’ve told this clown to fly a kite. I’m in gananoque every year and stay there a few times a year, but the gateway won’t be one of them again. I have a lot of friends who won’t consider it now either. He asked if I’d stay next season, and I might have considered it if he hadn’t screwed me on my security deposit.

The hotel cancelled my reservation without explanation after I asked the night before whether early parking was possible. They never replied to that question. It was disappointing and unprofessional, and showed no respect for guests. If you don’t want your trip disrupted unexpectedly, I wouldn’t recommend booking here. It doesn’t deserve even one star.

The breakfast was good, and after checkout they let me park for free so I could stroll around town without worrying about a parking fee. It’s a very nice place for a short stay before exploring the Islands, and you get what you pay for.

We got a king room with lots of space and an amazingly comfortable bed. The man who checked us in was friendly and very helpful, and the price was reasonable. Best night’s sleep I’ve had in ages!

People complain that the place is old or the breakfast could be better, but you get what you pay for here, maybe even a bit more. It’s a very affordable place to spend the night while travelling through. The staff are friendly, the room was clean and comfortable, and it’s quiet. They even offer breakfast.
