Quality Inn and Suites 1000 Islands Gananoque

As soon as we got into the room, we saw how dirty it was. It looked nothing like the photos, had bugs, and there were stains on the bedding and hair on the pillows. We complained, but the staff didn’t seem concerned and just said they’d fix it. When we returned, there were different stains, so the bedding had been changed but was no better. The beds were rock hard, and the mattress was falling off the frame. In the morning, staff stopped us at breakfast to ask which room we were in, though they didn’t ask anyone else. The pool was cold despite being advertised as heated, its ladder was broken, and there were rusty nails at the bottom. Staff were friendly and checked us in quickly, but I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place. Don’t waste your money.

Our rooms were clean and comfortable, and everyone was friendly and supportive, so we felt well cared for and at home in Gananoque. The person working there, who I think was the owner, was very polite and cordial. I can see potential in this property, but it needs real effort on cleaning, updating, and maintenance. In its current state, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I stayed at the Riviera in Gananoque on March 12, 2026, expecting a comfortable stay. The first room had no heat, so it wasn't usable. The second was dusty and filthy, with old, stained furniture and an unpleasant smell. It badly needs a full paint job. Neither TV could be used without programming it yourself, which isn't acceptable for a $200 stay. Supplies were short too, with only half a roll of toilet paper. The so-called free breakfast was just toast and a bagel, and the restaurant was closed. At $200, the price didn't match the room condition or lack of services. I could have paid $79 plus tax at the Days Inn for a clean room and a proper breakfast.

After our third overnight stay, this became our regular stopover motel. We've now stayed a fourth and fifth time, and enjoyed coming back each time. The beds are very comfortable, and the front-desk staff are kind and friendly. It's a quiet, clean place with spacious rooms, no carpets, a pool, and parking right beside the room door. The hot breakfast is very good and included. We'll be back whenever we need another overnight stop.
