Harmony Inn

A nasty stay, and I won't be back or recommend it. The bathroom smelled of cigarette smoke and was dirty, and the extra charges hadn't been explained when I booked. The reception was rude from the start. The man at the desk couldn't even say hello and was intimidating. I didn't complain about the floor or smoke while I was there. I only wrote this after my $250 deposit was returned. It's sad that reservation companies endorse this place.

I paid cash for two nights and left a $150 deposit. After sleeping there following injuries and other problems, I checked out at 3 pm. They tried to keep $50 of my deposit and didn't refund the $113 for the second night. The shower and bath were damaged. I needed that money for groceries and bills and had no other options. I'm in Clinton now after a bad situation in Huron-Perth, with OPP and medical involved. Noted.

The room at the back was quiet, and I liked having parking right outside. The blackout curtains worked well, the surfaces and bed looked clean, there was no carpet, and the bar fridge even had a freezer. The window air conditioner worked properly too. I won't return, though. I checked the floor with a wet wipe in front of the toilet, and a swipe of about three inches showed how dirty it was. The bed felt lumpy or too soft. I took off the sheets and found four mattress protectors over the zippered encasement, which may have been why it felt that way. I didn't sleep well. The final straw was calling two days after checkout about a misplaced thumb drive. The man answered with an abrupt no before I'd even finished asking if anyone had found it. I tried to clarify its colour, size, and likely location, but he just repeated no. There was no offer to check, no apology, not even a goodbye. The owners have a strong language barrier. The woman was lovely, though she had trouble understanding me when I asked about a 24-hour breakfast place. I'm not hard to please. Be kind, keep the room clean, including the floors, bedding, and blankets, and have a comfortable bed, though I know that's subjective. I treated the place with respect, as I always do, and expect the same effort in return.

Our representative felt unsafe staying alone, partly because the area had a noticeable presence of people experiencing homelessness and substance use. The room also had insects, and the bedsheets looked dirty on one side, which raised hygiene concerns. The door wasn't working properly. The owner couldn't open it with the master key and had to force it, leaving us concerned about the security of our employee's belongings. When she brought these problems to the front desk, staff reportedly became hostile and yelled at her. We booked Harmony Inn for a work trip, but the experience fell well below acceptable standards. We don't recommend it for business travelers or anyone looking for a safe, clean, respectful place to stay. We hope management takes these concerns seriously and makes improvements.
