Maple Leaf Motel

We booked the wrong day by mistake, and the woman at the desk was kind enough to charge us only half, even though the 72-hour cancellation policy makes some sense with so few rooms. I haven't seen the rooms, but from outside it's a lovely-looking little place. What bothered me was hearing that this happens a lot, which makes me wonder if online booking is confusing. I went back to check: their monthly calendar runs Monday to Sunday. I'm used to calendars starting Sunday, as most places seem to do. It was my mistake, but with that layout and the 72-hour rule, they charge the card and carry on. That's a shame.

A basic, clean motel, though the furniture felt dated. The kitchenette in my unit looked unused, and the wifi didn't work. If you're particular about hair care, bring your own shampoo and conditioner. The manager was very nice about letting me back into the room after checkout at 8 AM when I realized I'd left something behind.

The motel is an easy walk from the main town square and beyond, and checking in and out was straightforward. We were on a road trip that included Goderich and stayed one night at the Maple Leaf Motel. The owners were friendly, polite, and easy to chat with at check-in. Our room was closest to the road, which turned out to be busier than we expected. It was a hot day, though, and the air conditioning covered most of the traffic noise. The room was very clean and had a small selection of things for preparing meals. I'd recommend it for a quick visit to the area.
