Best Western Grande Prairie Hotel & Suites

The friendly staff made this another decent stay, and as a diamond member I appreciated the water and cookies. The cookies were really good, almost like homemade. I've stayed here several times for work as I use Best Westerns across Canada. The room was clean, as usual, though this location's rooms are more dated than most Best Westerns. Parking a truck and trailer together was pretty tight, but I made it work. Padrinos, the Italian restaurant, was decent enough. The food was above average but nothing special, and it's convenient when you're tired and want a meal in the hotel. The tiramisu was one of the worst I've had, very bland and soggy, like it had been sitting in water. Still, I had no real issues and would stay here again.

We paid extra to bring our pets, but the room was so poorly cleaned that it felt like sleeping in a barn. Within 30 seconds of entering, one of them found an Oreo under the bed. Later, I dropped an airport and picked it up with a clump of pet hair on it. I know it was a pet-friendly room, but some basic hygiene would be appreciated. Not happy paying over $200/night for that.

The staff are friendly, the rooms are great, and getting around from this decent location is easy. I stay here every time I come to GP, whether I'm traveling for work or for fun.

The employees are welcoming and clearly doing their best, but this is a terribly run-down location, especially for the same price as the brand-new Marriott a little farther away. Corporate owners need to invest in their aging properties. I hope this reaches someone who actually wants to make improvements. And to the hotel's reply, it was built in 1978. Check the local records. The rooms and elevators look and feel like they're from 1978, furniture included. The elevators feel close to breaking, and the thin walls let you hear everyone's conversations. The cooling and heating don't work adequately with the odd room layout and AC unit so far from the rest of the room, though I understand room sizes vary. My shower spray aimed almost straight at the back wall and couldn't be adjusted down. The internet was nearly nonexistent. I couldn't even play a mobile card game, and I've never had worse internet at a hotel. I suspect the hardware setup or the load from other guests may be the cause. The restaurant also closes Mondays. For a large company like Best Western, those are poor amenities for guests.
