Gravelbourg Inn

We came back from visiting family and found dead bugs throughout the room, dirty socks under the bed, and brown stains on the bedding. It was 1 a.m., so with the owner asleep we went to another hotel and didn’t wake him. I’d booked two nights, but we didn’t stay at all. When I called the next day, I asked only for that night’s money back, not the other night we’d already left. He called me a liar, yelled and threatened me, and refused to refund anything. Enjoy the $200, you miserable human.

There were mouse droppings everywhere, and the shower water came out dark brown. The floor, bathroom, and bedding all had actual chunks of dirt on them. I didn’t find bed bugs, though I was expecting them. Save your money and sleep in your car.

For a small town motor inn, it was about what I expected. The bed was comfortable and the AC worked, but the walls were so thin I could hear people in the next room rolling over. It was okay.

The motel itself wasn’t terrible, and the housekeeper was a lot of fun to chat with. Just be careful if you get into politics, or steer clear of that subject. There were eight flagpoles out front, with four flags flying, but none were Canadian, Saskatchewan, USA, or Métis. One of the two rooms also had no smoke detector.
