Residence Inn by Marriott Gravenhurst Muskoka Wharf

I’d pick any other hotel in Gravenhurst over the Residence Inn by Marriott. The reception staff were rude and unprofessional. I can’t remember her name, but she looked like she’d fallen face first into a tackle box. Our room overlooked industrial HVAC equipment and snow blower storage. Across from it, the dining room looked straight into the room, so we couldn’t leave the blinds open without dozens of people watching us. There were plumbing problems too: the shower drained toward the toilet and left a puddle in front of it, so your feet got wet each time you used the toilet. The toilet kept running after a flush unless you lifted the lid and fixed it yourself. The room was a dead zone for cell service, so I couldn’t receive calls or send texts. The sheets were thin, cheap and uncomfortable, anything but luxurious. The parking lot and walkway were icy and poorly maintained when we arrived, and I slipped. This was by far the worst hotel stay I’ve had. I’ll make sure I and everyone I care about stay far away from Marriott hotels in future.

The breakfast was delicious, and all the staff were sweet and polite. Our room was very, very clean, and the gym and pool were both really good. I loved this hotel and highly recommend it to my family.

After our skiing trip, we decided to stay at this hotel. The staff were respectful and quick to respond to our requests. I was struggling to make waffles for breakfast when a worker came over to help without me even asking. Great service, definitely recommend!

For over $400 a night, this was a really disappointing stay. We were on the first floor with no view, and a wall of rock completely blocked both the window and patio. The noise from other rooms was unbearable. Every shower and toilet flush sounded like it was happening in our own room. The room was spacious and had a kitchen, but that was where the positives ended.
