The staff refused to move us, call a manager, or give us a refund, even after we showed them photos and video of a bed bug and complained several times. They denied the problem outright. There was no customer service or concern for our wellbeing. Do NOT go to the Skye Hotel and Residences. Go to Avid or Four Seasons. I was in Toronto for a friend’s wedding with some other friends. I’d been awake for 36 hours and hoped to get a good night’s sleep before the wedding. At first glance the room seemed decent, but it was filthy: the floors hadn’t been cleaned, the sofa bed was covered in stains, there was hair all over the bedding, and dust on every surface. I was so exhausted I didn’t care at the time. We went to bed around 7pm. I woke at 1am and saw a dark spot moving on the pillow beside my face. Once I turned on the light, I saw it was a bed bug. We took photos and video, then went to the front desk to report it and ask for another room. The man there said he couldn’t move us then. Another guest in the lobby said he’d overheard a couple complain about bed bugs earlier that day. We learned they’d been on our floor too. When we asked the receptionist if he’d heard other complaints or knew about the bugs, he flatly denied it. After we reminded him about what the other guest had just said, he replied, “we’re trying to figure it out.” He wouldn’t call his manager. We told him we’d leave since he wasn’t finding a solution and would need a full refund. He said he didn’t have the authority and couldn’t call the manager. After going back and forth with him, we left around 3:45am and tried to find another hotel that could take five people in two rooms so early in the morning. We went to the Four Seasons Hotel. They couldn’t accommodate us, but recommended the Avid Hotel in Brampton. Avid checked us all in in less than 15 minutes, and we were in our rooms within half an hour. By then it was too late to sleep, though. It was 6am. Avid was professional, courteous, clean, and well managed and maintained. They offer a free continental breakfast, a full 24hr gym, a swimming pool for guests, and good security. At the Skye Hotel and Residences, there was no customer service, no accommodation, and no care for guests’ wellbeing or health. The place seemed barely cleaned, and the staff lied through their teeth. Do NOT stay there. Go to Avid or Four Seasons.

The staff were polite and respectful. They don’t argue with guests. Once I was complaining to a staff member, though I later realized I was in the wrong. The receptionist stayed calm, didn’t insult me or raise her voice, and tried to settle me down. We worked it out amicably. The place was clean, spacious, and nicely priced, with clean sheets, bedroom, and bathroom. Parking is available, and it seems ideal for groups. My only issue was check-in. It was meant to be at 3:00 pm, but we got there at 2:40 pm and the receptionists, who were just talking, told us to come back at 3:00. When we returned, a crowd had gathered, and one computer had suddenly stopped working. We ended up waiting another 15-20 minutes. A small, luck-of-the-draw kind of problem. They could be more reasonable with arrivals 15 minutes early, which wouldn’t have hurt and might have avoided the extra fuss. I’d definitely recommend staying.

The room was spotless and had so much to make things easy and affordable: a full kitchen, laundry, living area, and more. My child slept comfortably and safely. The staff and GM were warm, welcoming, and accommodating, and accepted my reservation the same day without hesitation. The location was ideal, close to plenty of activities and travel options. A fantastic stay, and I’ll absolutely be back!
