Cozy Corner Motel & Restaurant

The room was unbearably hot, with no apparent way to adjust the heat, and the light switches didn't work. It also reeked of cigarettes so badly that it was hard to breathe. Next door, someone who we thought might be a permanent resident sounded like they were moving furniture all night and loudly filling a trash can with beer bottles. You'd be better off sleeping in your car.

It's on the main road and fairly dated. I booked well in advance, but when we arrived they put us in an adjacent "cabin" that was really a dirty tuff-shed. I got a refund, which was decent service, then went farther up the road and found somewhere newer, cleaner, and less expensive.

We just wanted a clean, comfortable place for one night. We're simple people, but this was the worst motel of the 10 we'd stayed at on our month-long trip across Canada and the US, and our only negative review. We had no other option because of a bicycle rally in town. We were in room 11. The staff were okay and the bedding was clean, but we weren't comfortable. The room stank of cigarettes and had only two lamps, so it was very dark. The microwave was absolutely filthy, as was both the inside and outside of the toilet. Dog crap covered the strip of lawn leading to the rooms in back. The breakers tripped whenever we tried using the microwave, and the power bar kept tripping too. I'd never recommend this hole.

The owner got our room ready right away when it wasn't ready at arrival, bringing sheets, towels, and garbage cans herself. Everyone was friendly and professional. We had comfortable beds, a fridge with a freezer compartment, and a coffee maker. The restaurant right next door was handy, though it wasn't open for breakfast. It worked out well for one night since the next stop was too far to drive in a day, and I really appreciated having a place to stay. There's a nice coffee shop in town, and the views around there are breathtaking. I wish I'd had more time to explore.
