Hampton Inn by Hilton Halifax Downtown

On Valentine’s Day this year, I couldn’t be with my fiancée because she was in Halifax for work. I emailed the hotel to ask if they could get flowers to her room. Guest Services Supervisor Nobuhiro Yamada quickly agreed and pointed me to a flower shop near the hotel. Once I’d placed the order and told them it was ready for pickup, the staff set it up with chocolates and drinks for me. Then, based on an idea from front desk staff member Navdeep, they went even further and decorated the bed with petals and a swan arrangement. That was a lovely surprise. This kind of customer service is exactly what I expect from a hotel, and they exceeded it. We’ll definitely stay at the Hampton Inn when we visit Halifax, and I’ll thank the people who made it happen in person. Thanks for making a special day feel special!

Kiran at reception was welcoming, professional, and very helpful. The service made my visit memorable. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. Great stay, highly recommended!

The discount for a last-minute stay looked good, the room seemed nice, and the location was great. But at 6am we woke up to bed bugs crawling beside my husband, and it completely ruined the night. This has never happened to me before. My partner called the front desk, and they told us to put the bug in a cup and said they had plastic bags for our things if needed. When we stripped the bed, there was dirt and popcorn under the sheets. Cleanliness clearly hadn’t been given enough attention. I usually inspect hotel beds, but I was exhausted and assumed it would be fine. That was my mistake. At first, the staff didn’t seem to care much. The hotel manager eventually spoke with me in the lobby and offered a 75% discount for the night. We were still expected to pay the $75 pet fee and 25% of the stay. I felt the whole stay should have been free, pet fee included. The steps we had to take to keep the bugs from spreading to our home cost enough on their own. The Hampton Inn in Halifax won’t get my business again, and I’ll warn others to stay away.

I always enjoy coming back here. The price is reasonable, and the room feels like just the right amount of space for a short stay. This room looked different from the one I had last time, but I liked it just as much. The front desk staff are always friendly and helpful when I arrive, and the breakfast buffet is delicious. Thanks for another lovely stay.
