The Royal Harbour Resort

We came back recently for two nights after staying here in 2018 and 2019, but the quality has slipped. Check-in took longer than it should have, the room had broken chairs that felt unsafe, and it wasn’t as clean as before. The furniture and small appliances seem untouched for years, and supplies like toilet paper, paper towels, and Kleenex weren’t properly restocked. Management needs to address safety and cleanliness and update the rooms. I wouldn’t recommend staying until that happens.

We booked for a hockey tournament, and the lack of online photos had made us unsure. The stay confirmed our concerns. There were ants, rat droppings on plates in a cupboard, holes in the walls, peeling paint and wallpaper, and visible mold. The conditions were disgusting, unsanitary, and unacceptable. There are no front desk attendants on site after 11 p.m., which is troubling if there’s an emergency. This was one of the worst hotel stays we’ve ever had, and I don’t think the property should be open to the public.

The views were lovely, and the pool area with its sauna was really cool. A very pleasant hotel!

We were fishing on the river for the weekend, and the location was very close to it. The price for the weekend was very good, so I’d stay here again. We were in the last room beside the exit, though, and the doors slamming shut were loud enough to hear at the far end of the room.
