Breakfast was a real highlight. We booked the breakfast package and were glad we did. It was made to order and delicious, and the chef kindly swapped the buttermilk pancakes for chocolate chip ones for my child. The server working around 7:30 a.m. on January 2nd 2026 was warm and attentive, though sadly I didn't get their name. That service made us feel welcome in a way we haven't often experienced in Canada. We stayed three nights at The Hollis Halifax Downtown, and the location was great, about a two-minute walk to the harbourfront. Restaurants were all walkable. For parking, there was a covered garage about five minutes away, weekend street parking that fills quickly, and a paid open lot visible from our room. Wit at the front desk greeted us warmly, was professional and kind, and accommodated our room request. The luggage trolleys were especially useful with a child and several bags, and staff helped return them at check-in and checkout. Our two-queen suite was clean, roomy, and had what we needed: a large closet, safe, coffee machine, microwave, mini fridge, and comfortable seating. The beds and pillows were very comfortable, with several pillow options, including some firmer ones. Housekeeping made the beds and cleaned the bathroom daily. We were told full linen changes are every four nights, which seemed reasonable. The heating worked well in room 808, Wi-Fi was reliable, and app requests for dental kits and extra sheets were handled quickly. Even small details, like a night light in the washroom, were taken care of. The Hilton Honors app worked well for in-room requests, as it has at other Hilton properties we've visited. A great Halifax stay with friendly staff, comfortable rooms, and a very good breakfast. I'd recommend it, and found the app useful for quick requests.

Manpreet at the front desk made our anniversary trip especially memorable. She was knowledgeable, helpful, and so pleasant, and went out of her way to make the visit feel special. We had a lovely, spacious, clean room with a very comfortable bed and pillows. We also enjoyed breakfast at the Hollis, with plenty of vegetarian choices. We had a great time celebrating there.

The rooms are spacious and well kept, with comfortable beds and a nice view of the docks. The staff were friendly and helpful when I left my work phone behind at checkout. The front desk called, but I was already on my way to catch a flight and couldn't return. They kindly offered to ship it to my home, at my expense, which was fair since it was my mistake. The hotel is right downtown, about five minutes from the pier and next to the Evergreen festival if you're visiting in December. This is the place I'd stay in Halifax.

After a long day of travel, Aval at the Hollis Halifax front desk was genuinely welcoming. He made check-in feel personal and easy, and I really appreciated his kindness and professionalism.

The little things weren't taken care of: cup rings from previous guests were still on the furniture, and the lightbulbs in the fixtures didn't match. Even budget hotels usually get basics like that right. The Wi-Fi is slow unless you pay extra, along with other amenities that feel nickel-and-dimed. Great for shareholders, maybe, but bad for guests. Want 2012 Wi-Fi prices? This place feels stuck there.
