I could hear other guests talking and using the bathroom through the thin walls, and one of the three lamps in my room was out. The TV had no remote, and when we asked for another pillow, they said they could only give us the hotel's one spare. The place is run down and in a rough part of town, though the king bed was comfortable and I slept well enough. Next visit, I'll pay the extra $20 for somewhere more welcoming.

The front desk employee was helpful and pleasant, but the room was one of the dirtiest and most run-down I've stayed in, even compared with hostels in Eastern Europe. It was supposed to be non-smoking but reeked of cigarettes, and the carpets, walls, and bathroom were dirty. I only ended up here because nearby places were full. Management needs to put money into the hotel if they expect even the modest $60 a night to feel justified.

The staff were friendly and there was a nice breakfast spread, but we left after learning the hot water would be off for another 24 hours. At check-in, we were first told it should be back the next day. Management didn't respond well, was rude, and gave us no discount. I won't return.

The shower head was far too low, and while the surfaces were clean, the carpets weren't as clean. The front desk guy seemed capable. When they lost track of our room and had no second bed, they discounted the stay and brought us a cot at no charge.

The room had a damp smell, like kitten farts. The clerk, a flat-faced ginger whose name I don't know, came across like an emotionless robot with no humor or human warmth.
