Joan’s homemade breakfasts were wonderful, especially the fluffy pancakes with local maple syrup. The little flat was lovely, with breathtaking views out to the open ocean. We fell asleep in a comfortable bed to the soft sound of the sea. On arrival, Joan and her lovely Chocolate Lab, Willie, welcomed us with warmth, kindness, and local information. It was a pleasure to chat and get to know Joan. When we return to Nova Scotia, we’ll start our trip at Joan and Sal's Bed and Breakfast By The Sea.

The hosts are awesome, and the accommodations are very comfortable. There’s an amazing restaurant right across the street, and Halifax is only a short drive away. Highly recommend this B&B!

Joan made us feel like friends as well as guests, and her beautiful home was the setting for a delicious breakfast each morning. We also loved starting the day with sunrise coffee on the dock or in the boat house. Our room was thoughtfully appointed and well furnished, and felt like home. Herring Cove is quiet and picture postcard perfect, about twenty minutes from downtown Halifax, with a grocery store and quick-bite cafe nearby. It’s also a great base for exploring the south shore. We couldn’t have had a better stay at Sal’s By The Sea, and would plan to stay longer if we return to Nova Scotia.

The Eagles Nest suite is really comfortable, and the location is beautiful. Fantastic, welcoming hosts. I’d highly recommend Sal's!
