Coast Hinton Hotel

The people were nice and the place was clean, but the heat made it impossible for us to sleep. It was October 2, about +4 outside, yet the hotel was over 30 degrees Celsius. The central radiant heat was cranked up, and the air conditioner barely cooled the room. My wife and I were sweating even with the AC running and the windows open. We both took cold showers and were still too hot. My wife is from the Philippines and even she thought it was too hot. There are no individual thermostats in the rooms, just cheap air conditioners that don’t blow cold. I asked at the front desk, but the man didn’t seem to have the language skills for a conversation. He was nice, and it wasn’t his fault, but the manager should know this isn’t working. That kind of temperature difference can make people sick. Whoever controls the thermostat must be incredibly inconsiderate or ignorant. Please stop doing this to guests. It’s nuts, terrible, and I won’t be back. I feel like I need a week to acclimatize.

I’ve stayed here twice now and really like it. The staff were all amazing, though I only caught Tippy’s name. Tippy made sure I had everything I needed for breakfast, and it was all included. Yum. It feels good to be surrounded by comfort and kindness, and I slept restfully. You’ll be happy staying here.

The room itself was fine, but the antifreeze smell was overwhelming. I told the front desk soon after checking in, and they came to the room and offered air freshener. We opened the window and shut the bathroom door. When we came back a couple of hours later, the smell was contained in the bathroom, where it was coming from, so I had to sleep with the window wide open. They offered another room, but had no other king rooms and didn’t suggest an alternative. At checkout, the front desk passed the problem to housekeeping. I wasn’t impressed.

After a long day, we slept really well in a very comfortable bed. We spent one night in one of their suites, and the room was clean and decent. The staff were very friendly, and breakfast was decent too, the typical eggs, bread, and coffee. No complaints, and I’d recommend it. Great stay.
