Timberland Hotel

For a two star hotel, I thought this was excellent value, as long as you arrive with realistic expectations. The property and facilities are old and a bit dated, but my bedroom was clean and spacious, the service was friendly, and there are plenty of food options within walking distance, just off the highway. The Wi-Fi handled streaming movies and work well. There was a mini fridge, coffee maker with coffee, and shampoo and soap. Highway noise was a little noticeable, though I didn’t hear the bar or neighboring rooms. I was there on a Monday.

We got only two hours of sleep and were awake by 5:30 AM. There was coughing and loud snoring from the next room, along with trains rumbling through town all night because the hotel is so close to the tracks. Since a good night’s sleep was what we needed most, this was a poor choice for us, even though the room itself was adequate.

We stopped by on the way to Jasper, had a few shotz of Tequilla, and found the staff super friendly.

The liquor store staff at the hotel were friendly too, big thanks to them. I came in a few times after work to play slots and have a drink or two, and even though I’m from out of province, I felt welcome. The women at the bar were warm and welcoming while I was still in my work clothes and safety vest. I wish I’d had time to stop by more during my visit. This place’s old school dive bar vibe is totally my thing. Five stars don’t feel like enough. Thanks to the bartenders and liquor store staff for the hospitality.
