Marshlands Inn

The owners were really friendly, and the place was so quiet and cozy that we both slept great. We only stayed one night, and I think we were the only guests there. Breakfast was freshly made and delicious, with amazing food for a very good price. We had a lovely time and hope to come back.

The gardens outside were lovely, and breakfast was excellent, both the food and service. We came across this historic hotel by chance while heading for the Newfoundland ferry and really liked it. There are lots of beautiful, interesting touches. We took plenty of photos and would return if we’re in the area. It cost less than a third rate chain hotel.

We stayed in the carriage house, where our room had two very comfortable double beds, a lovely bathroom, lots of fluffy white towels, plus an iron, ironing board, and hair dryer. The inn is a gorgeous large house from the 1850s with a storied past. Many notable people have stayed there, including Queen Elizabeth in 1984. The main house is full of exquisite antiques and cherry woodwork. My adult daughter and I were on a road trip to Memramcook, and I’m so glad I found Marshlands Inn in Sackville after looking at places on Google maps. We like BnBs and old homes more than motels or large hotels. The dining room serves three meals daily. We had breakfast with teacups and crisp white linens, placemats, and napkins. I checked the lunch and dinner menus too, and the dishes sounded mouth-watering. It’s not a big menu, but everything is homemade, and the scallops with pernod were one example. There’s also a large garden and lawn with a view. I’d highly recommend this beautiful inn, well worth a visit!

I really like my room, the view out the window, and the hotel staff. Barry, the owner, is a very nice person. I don’t understand why some reviews about him are so mean. He’s definitely nice, though people are different and some just don’t know how to make small talk.
