Coastal Inn Sackville

We had everything we needed for a pleasant stay: a quiet setting, lots of continental breakfast, and laundry right next door. The room was as expected, and the staff were great. Landen especially went well beyond what was needed to accommodate us. We were in town for several days for the big Mt. Allison home coming event. Top marks for the hotel and its people. I’d definitely stay here in Sackville again.

The beds were worn out and awful. I’m expecting a week of back problems after sleeping on them. The gym doesn’t work, and the breakfast is best skipped; I went into town instead. It was crowded and loud, with ATVs outside until 3am and drunk people returning from the bar. When I told the front desk we couldn’t sleep, they just said too bad. I could smell curry throughout the place, and it seemed like a family was living in the building.

The bedding was the worst part. The sheets smelled so unclean that I put my spare clothes over the bed rather than sleep directly on them. The pillows seemed like cheap ones that had been used for ten years. The whole place smelled of mold and dirt, and it’s very dated. It needs a full renovation.

Everyone on staff was nice and polite, and the mattress itself was comfortable, but at $200 a night the place felt like a rip-off. Both beds were broken to some degree, the bedding looked old and tired, and the lighting was poor, with several bulbs out. The pillows were good, at least. The iron was dirty and the ironing board barely usable. The bathroom was very dated, with an incredibly small toilet; the shower was okay, but old and low on pressure. Our floor smelled so strongly of curry it was funny. There’s no restaurant or room service, so I don’t know where it came from. The continental breakfast was laughable and shouldn’t be offered. We were staying nearby for a wedding.
