Bella Vista Inn

The restaurant left me disappointed too: the food was bland and seemed overpriced for its quality. I also saw the cook come out, and his pants and shirt looked so dirty that I was horrified. A kitchen should have a dress code. My room was fairly clean, but it smelled of smoke, and the AC was broken. When I tried turning it up, it smelled like something was burning, which was really unpleasant and hard to ignore. There were stains on the bed, and the furniture looked extremely old. Check-in took much too long. From arrival, the staff seemed uninterested and unwelcoming, and nobody explained the amenities or even basic information. I was extremely disappointed with my experience at the restaurant and hotel.

The beef dip and fries were great and filling. The fries had just the right crispness, and I’ll be craving them for a while, lol. I also tried the starter soup. It was hot and flavourful, and I was surprised it came with a hot biscuit. I don’t think I’ve ever had soup served with one at another restaurant. We stopped at Rookies for dinner one evening, and our server was prompt and friendly. He made sure we were well looked after. Fantastic meal!

The rooms were clean for the most part, but the beds only had a top sheet over the mattress, with no fitted sheet. I also needed a later checkout because of my practicum work hours, and they wouldn’t accommodate me. When I offered to book an extra night, they said they were full, even though Expedia showed rooms available. I stayed a couple of nights while I was in school. The place needs a facelift and better accommodations for people working late hours.

The restaurant and bathrooms have been really clean, and the owner seems like a very sweet guy who cares about his community. My coworkers and I have been stopping in for lunch while we’re in town for work. The food is always fresh, hot, and very good. We’ve had the same waiter each time, and he’s been amazing. 👏 We’ll be back, 10/10!
