Bighorn Meadows Resort

We were surprised by how quiet it was when we visited in early May 2026. The room was clean and the customer service excellent. From morning until night, the view from our room was stunning, almost like an AI-generated image, but real. We didn’t go golfing, though golf enthusiasts would find this a great place to enjoy the sport. 👍🏻

The big ants and dirty pool and hot tub were the downsides. Otherwise, our one-bedroom was really spacious, the full kitchen was great, and having a washer and dryer in the condo was helpful. The towels were fluffy, and the bed was comfortable. We enjoyed the golf course, though workers were mowing every hole during our 7:30am tee time. The staff were friendly, but the greens were inconsistent.

The one good point was the front desk offering us a free late checkout to 11 AM when we mentioned that 10 AM was very early. We appreciated the gesture, but the stay still felt overpriced, poorly managed, and short on basic comfort. I wouldn’t return. We paid almost $200 a night and got one of the least desirable semi-basement rooms, even though the property didn’t seem full. At first we thought the hotel was nearly booked, but later it looked like only three or four units in the whole building were occupied. Many guests seemed to be in similar rooms. Guests are also expected to take out their own garbage, which wasn’t what I expected at that price. The worst part was the carpenter ants. On our second night, at least 50 to 100 were swarming around our room door and the entrance door. It was frightening and made it impossible to relax. I barely slept because I was so uncomfortable and worried about them.

The resort itself is beautiful, and the apartments are lovely, which makes the staff’s response even more disappointing. A man entered our room with a key without our consent, and no one had told us anyone would be coming into the apartment. As two women with a baby, we felt very unsettled. When we raised it with staff, they brushed it off and said, “I grew up in this valley and it is safe here”. During that conversation, we also learned that a staff member was charging us an extra $20 for a late checkout for reasons that weren’t explained. After checking out, we left a few items behind and tried to reach them by phone and email, but our attempts have consistently been ignored. It’s hard to overlook staff treating a man entering our room without permission as normal. This was a serious matter for us and probably would be for most people. The staffing team was unprofessional and a huge letdown for the resort.
